Frost / Nixon a ‘must see’

Dear Editor,

Have you ever gone out for a night of entertainment, expecting it to be enjoyable and came home WOWed? That happened to us last night. After dining on smoked salmon appetizer, Caesar salad, a number of small plates (TAPAS), coffee and dessert at The Cellar restaurant, we headed over to the Ti-Ahwaga Performing Arts Center to take in Frost/Nixon, a play by Peter Morgan.

At 74, I, like many Americans lived through the “Nixon years” and believed I had a solid grasp on the events of the day and the impact “Watergate” had on the political climate of our day. However, also like most of us back in the day, I was busy catching planes, attending meetings, making quotas and meeting family obligations so that many of those events and their significance got by me.

If this was your fate, I would encourage you to get to the Ti-Ahwaga Performing Arts Center and take in the current production of Frost / Nixon. Not only will you be entertained and educated, you will be treated to excellent acting by a well-directed cast.

I went expecting to see two men sitting on a stage, talking about Watergate. However, what I witnessed was a “dramatic rendering of a historical event, the circumstances leading up to, during and after the televised occurrence.  It is a solid well crafted, engaging work that combines great story telling, evenly defined characters and a sculpturing that leads to mesmerizing theater.

I believe you will enjoy it as much as I did. I would also urge you to bring your late teens and 20somethings along, not only will they get a little history lesson, both you and they will witness Community theater at its best.

Go and enjoy!

Sincerely,

Joe Chartrand
