Guides sought for Farmstead Museum

The Newark Valley Historical Society’s Guides / Cooking Guild will meet on Saturday, May 15; at the Welcome Center at 10 a.m. Guides for the upcoming season are being sought.

This will be a planning and re-organizing meeting. Those attending are asked to bring their calendar, ideas, and their mask [if you have not been vaccinated]. The group will have lunch at the pavilion, weather permitting, and guests are also asked to bring their own lunch.

New guides will be trained at a future meeting to be announced at a later date.

This spring there are no school tours, and the house has not been used for a year. They do plan, however, to open for the season on July 3 and will offer tours every weekend from noon to 4 p.m.

On July 17 and 18, the Rendezvous will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and they need to be ready for the mountain men and women the following week.

Members of the Historical Society are also welcome to join the Guild. For a membership form, visit nvhistory.org or leave a message at (607) 642-9516. RSVP if you plan to attend the May 15 meeting by email to nvhistory@stny.rr.com.
