County Libraries set to open

Last week it was announced that All Tioga County libraries would open on June 15 for curbside or lobby pickup of library materials. Since the announcement was made, we received word from several of the libraries on what the opening will look like.

The Candor Free Library, located at 2 Bank St. in Candor, will re-open its doors on June 15 for contact free pickup of library materials. Pickup hours will be Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

Patrons may use the online library catalog at www.candorfreelibrary.org; call the library at 659-7258, or e-mail director@candorfreelibrary.org. Patrons will be contacted when their hold is ready to be picked up in the library lobby or you can request that they bring it out to your car.

To ensure the safety of staff and patrons in regard to COVID19, the library itself will be closed to patrons until further notice. Please email or call the above number with any questions.

The Berkshire Free Library announced they are also opening the week of June 15 for curbside pickup. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

Call ahead to 657-4418 for more information on how they can get your personalized book bag ready for you. The library is located on Route 38 in Berkshire, N.Y.

Coburn Free Library will reopen its doors on Monday for contact free pickup. Hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 11 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m., and on Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.

Patrons may use the online library catalog or call the library to put a book, book on CD, or DVD on hold. Available on their website at www.coburnfreelibrary.org, the library also offers a Book Selection Service where patrons may request a book be selected for them according to their preferences. Patrons will be called when their hold is ready to be picked up.

Contact free pick-up is housed in the library entry. To ensure the safety of staff and patrons in the face of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the building itself will remain closed until further notice.

If you have questions, visit the library website’s FAQ page or contact the library director, Meredith Gallaro, by calling (607) 687-3520 or by email to director@coburnfreelibrary.org.

Coburn Free Library is located at 275 Main St. in the Village of Owego.
