The Colburn Free Library in Owego is working to make renovations to the historic building that will provide access to all.  They are installing an at grade entrance, ADA accessible restroom, and elevator to provide access to all floors of the building.

To raise funds for the renovations, the library will be holding a fundraiser concert with Rick Pedro on Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. The cost is $15, and all of the proceeds benefit the elevator project. They are one-third of the way to their goal.

The library has worked diligently over the past year to make the accessibility project happen. They want all people within the community to have access to their resources.

In addition to books, free e-books, audio books, magazines, movies, music and Internet access, they provide free access to over 30 educational databases.

They now offer free one-on-one online job coaching through Job Now. Their program Tumble Books provides free online read-along books as well as interactive picture books for babies. You can master a second language online using Mango Languages at the library.

The library has provided educational programming to over 2,000 child attendees and holds weekly story times for toddlers.

Adult programs at the library include educational lectures, book clubs, craft programs, and much more.

The library is located at 275 Main St. in Owego. You can learn more by calling 687-3520.
