Former corrections officer indicted on multiple charges

The District Attorney in Tioga County announced on Monday that a Tioga County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Jonathon E. Edwards, age 36, for Burglary in the Third Degree, a class D felony; Petit Larceny, a class A misdemeanor; Official Misconduct, a class A misdemeanor; and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a class A misdemeanor.

The charges are the result of an internal investigation by the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office of Edwards, who was previously employed there as a Corrections Sergeant.

Edwards has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 1, 2018 for the results of a pre-plea investigation.

He remains out on bail, and is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Attorney Robert Kilmer, of Binghamton, is representing Edwards.
