Campers at Lions Camp Badger were treated to a day of international festivities recently when volunteers from five different countries shared their cultures and traditions in a fun and meaningful way. The volunteers came to camp through the organization AIESEC, the world’s largest non-profit youth-run organization.

Founded in 1948, AIESEC is present in over 2,400 universities and has a membership of over 100,000 students. AIESEC provides young people with leadership development, cross-cultural global internships, and volunteer exchange experiences across the globe.  AIESEC volunteers work in the areas of human rights and education, environmental sustainability, and leadership development.

This year, the six volunteers at Lions Camp Badger are from China, Mexico, Tunisia, South Korea and Brazil. They have shared their culture and expertise in the areas of dance, gardening, music, sports and art.

Campers have had the opportunity to learn many wonderful things from their international friends, and the AIESEC volunteers have learned about working with people who have special needs as well. This experience has been enriching and rewarding for all involved.

Lions Camp Badger is a residential summer camp for children and adults with special needs. Located in Spencer, their mission is help differently-abled individuals reach full potential through providing educational, vocational and recreational opportunities. Lions Camp Badger is operated by Empire State Special Needs Experience, Inc, and is a project of the Lions International Multiple District 20 (New York and Bermuda).
