Kids Rock at Berkshire’s Blueberry & Book Festival

What’s better than when a child gets the chance to meet a real children’s author? When a child gets to meet a real children’s author, illustrator, graphic designer, publisher and school speaker.

Local children’s book creator Daniel Jude Miller will be joining the lineup at this year’s Blueberry & Book Festival, planned for July 21, to share, read, and inspire children of all ages with his books – Everybody Wake Up, Halloween Boy and the Christmas Kid, Bruce the Spruce, and his Monsters in Manhattan series.

Daniel Jude has the unique task of being responsible for every aspect of his books. From concept and writing, through the art creation and design, and finally culminating with production and promotion, Daniel does it all and he believes that every child can do the same.

Kids are welcome to explore with Daniel during his two presentations in the “Kids’ Tent”.

Daniel will take young artists and writers, as well as those young at heart, on his journey from his early years of drawing, through art school and a professional career, while exploring where inspiration comes from, the many steps necessary to create a piece of art and the joy that comes from seeing your idea become reality.

The first presentation, from 10 to 11 a.m., will be aimed towards children in kindergarten through second grade; and then a 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. presentation geared towards older kids. Everyone is welcome to either presentation, and both are family friendly.

Along with Daniel Jude Miller, the “Kid’s Area” will feature face painting with Jenn Willard, games by the Girls Scouts from Richford, a scavenger hunt with Fran Miller in the library, “I Spy” in the library’s second floor History Museum, free children’s books for all ages, and maybe a few surprises. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Game Truck of Central NY will be set up in front of the Fire Station for all ages to test their skills.

Bring the family and check out all the events at the Berkshire Blueberry and Book Festival on July 21, at the Berkshire Fire Station, library and Community Hall.
