Photo: Morrissey completes her 25th New York City marathon

Pictured is Owego resident, Barbara Morrissey, holding a medal after her 25th New York City marathon on Nov. 5. Morrissey, now 70, loves running, but also runs to raise money for “Fred’s Team,” a non-profit that supports lifesaving cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering (MSKCC), one of the premier cancer research centers in the world. This year she raised over $8,500. Prior to the marathon, Barbara visited two pediatric patients at MSKCC, both high school athletes fighting cancer. She commented about the visit, “That sure made the marathon seem pretty easy.” Morrissey looks forward to training for her 26th New York City marathon next year, which will be her 54th overall marathon.
