Candor man sentenced on sex abuse charges

The District Attorney’s office recently reported that on Sept. 11, Tioga County Court Judge Gerald Keene sentenced Matthew J. Williams, age 33 of Candor, N.Y., to five years in state prison, with ten years post-release supervision for his conviction of Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree for engaging in sexual conduct with a female child victim sometime between June 2013 and July 14, 2013 in the Town of Berkshire.

Williams was also sentenced to three years in state prison and ten years post-release supervision for his conviction of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree for subjecting a female child less than 11 to sexual contact during the month of June 2011 in the Town of Candor.

According to the District Attorney’s office, this sentence will run concurrent to his sentence of five years state prison and ten years post-release supervision.

The sentences will also run consecutive to a sentence rendered by Tompkins County for Sex Abuse First Degree. Williams received six years in state prison and ten years post-release supervision in Tompkins County – for a total state prison sentence of 11 years.
