Folk Art Series continuesThe Newark Valley Historical Society continues its Folk Art Series with two workshops that will take place at the Bement-Billings Farmstead, located on Route 38 in Newark Valley.

On Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Laryssa Zahajkewycz will present Colby cheese-making 110. Make Colby cheese in the morning, and bring your questions in the afternoon. 

The cost is $40 for Historical Society members, and $35 for non-members. Call Leslie at 642-5412 by Aug. 16 to register. 

On Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Leslie Kiersted and Deb Lum will present Open Hearth Cooking. Participants will use Dutch, spider, and reflector ovens. All materials are provided. Guests must bring their own table service.

The cost is $45 for Historical Society members, and $50 for non-members. Call Leslie at 642-5412 by Aug. 25 to register. There are some scholarships available.
