Chocolates, wine, and local brews featured at Phelps Happy Hour

February is going to be a sweet month at the Phelps Mansion Museum. On Feb. 23, the Phelps will hold its popular History Happy Hour with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.  

Guests will enjoy some excellent brews from Water Street Brewing. At about 6 p.m., the folks from Chocolates by Leopold will begin the evening’s presentation with a brief discussion on the history of chocolate. Following this, all Happy Hour guests will be treated to a demonstration on various techniques used in creating some tasty treats.

Reservations are suggested for the History Happy Hour, as space is limited. To reserve your spot, call the mansion at (607) 722-4873 or visit the mansion’s website, www.PhelpsMansion.org. 

The doors will open at about 5:15 p.m. for the History Happy Hour. The pre-registered fee for the Happy Hour presentation is $10 for museum members and $15 for non-members. Guests who choose not to pre-register can still attend (space permitting). The at-the-door fee is $13 for members and $18 for non-members. Guests will receive two drink coupons that can be turned in for a selection of beer and wine from Water Street Brewing Company. Snacks will also be available. The presentation will begin at about 6 p.m. and following the program the team from Chocolates by Leopold will be available for questions.

The Central Region of New York State has a long history of culinary delights. From the many agricultural products that are grown here to the excellent restaurants and bakeries that can be found along our streets the mix of cultures and tastes combine to form a delicious mix. Chocolates by Leopold has been offering their unique sweet treats for many years and at this month’s Happy Hour the staff of the Water Street Brewing will pair these chocolate treats with specially brewed local beers and wines.

The Phelps Mansion Museum is located at 191 Court St. (next to the library).  The museum offers a wide array of historical and arts-related programming throughout the year. The museum is a member supported non-profit educational institution that aims to help visitors better understand the importance of the Gilded Age (1870-1893) in the growth of the Southern Tier and beyond.
