Planning underway for Candor’s St. Baldrick’s event and 5K

Candor’s 7th annual St. Baldrick’s event is set for April 2, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Candor Fire Station. This event is a fundraiser for a pediatric cancer foundation – St. Baldrick’s, www.stbaldricks.org.

They are looking for shavees – men, women and children, who want to become “heroes” to a child with cancer by standing in solidarity with them as they have their heads shaved while raising money for pediatric cancer research.

This year also marks the 2nd Annual 5K Run/Walk the morning of April 2, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Candor Ambulance Garage.

They are currently looking for runners and walkers to participate. They are also looking for baskets and items to raffle, and for 5K event t-shirt sponsors.

Participants can register to do the shaving or sign up as a shavee, or register to participate in the 5K or as a volunteer. There is a $25 entry fee for the 5K that includes a t-shirt, or $15 without a t-shirt.

People can register to be a shavee and to participate in the 5K on the St. Baldrick’s event page at www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/4251/2017.

This is a family fun event with lots of raffles, food, music and activities.

Last year the community was able to raise over $35,600. The goal for this year is $40,000.
