Tioga County’s Non Profit Network works to fill the gaps

Catholic Charities Tompkins / Tioga, Tioga Outreach Center, serves anyone in need who lives in Tioga County. The Outreach Center is a party of a countywide effort of non-profits that have formed as the Tioga County Non Profit Network (TCNN).

Located at 139 Roki Blvd. in Nichols, N.Y., the Tioga Outreach Center offers programs to help with unexpected emergencies and also with programs to help people become more self-sufficient. There are no religious requirements, and services are confidential and free.

The Tioga Outreach Center helps fill the gap in Tioga County by offering a food pantry (nine meals per person every 30 days), free Clothing and small household items, SNAP (formerly known as Food Stamps) application assistance, Youth Engagement Services providing academic support and enrichment activities to teens in two high schools and one-one mentoring for youth in the community, an Employment and Education program offering support and direct assistance in reaching personal job and career goals, and Emergency Assistance such as utility shutoff situations.

The community can help by mentoring a young person, hosting a drive for diapers and food to provide essential items and nutritious foods, by planting a garden in the raised beds project to provide fresh food for the community, as an aide in the Summer Lunch and Recreation programming to help kids eat over the summer. You can also call the center with your ideas.
