Peaches and Crime ‘head out west’ with highly stylized burlesque show

For years, the all-original Vaudeville variety musical act Peaches and Crime has been bringing a revival of a vibrant, varied, and unpredictable stage art for to stages across New York and beyond. But on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Ti-Ahwaga Performing Arts Center in Owego, New York, Peaches and Crime will be “heading out west” to reprise their highly acclaimed theatrical production, “Bandit’s Burlesque,” a country-themed old-timey burlesque show that spans decades of history of this performance style.

“As with everything we do, we wanted this to be a creative development of what it is we’re reviving,” said Daniel “Danny Black” Schwartz, the group’s lyricist. “We’ve done vaudeville shows before.  Burlesque shows too.  But we wanted to give the audience a fresh new take on this classic art form.”

“It excites audiences,” observed Angela “Angie Diamond” Schwartz, the act’s lead singer and composer. “They feel like they’re living history. People have usually associated the ‘crime’ in our name with 1920s and 1930s gangsters, but the Wild West was just as criminal.”

Along with the Schwartzes, Peaches and Crime includes Julia “Abbigail Pins” Adams as vocalist and trumpet player, Cat “Young Catherine” McDonald as vocalist and clarinetist, Greg “Gregor Gregorevich” Baker on bass, Tony “the Greek” Georges on guitar, Mike “Mikey the Fist” Sclafani on keyboard, and AJ “Fats” Rembert playing drums.

But for this show they’re sharing the stage with a slew of talented dancers, including Lily “Domino Trixx” Clark, Jean “Shimmer LaRue” Graham, Lyn “Penny Farthing” Leis, Fae “Ivy Midnight” Nordstrom, Lori “Ann Prospect” Pickering, JamieLynn “Lucy Haze” Stulir & Arydaea Insanity as “Vanilla Danger”.

The performance will be Saturday, Jan. 21, at 8 p.m. at the Ti-Ahwaga Performing Arts Center located at 42 Delphine St. in Owego, N.Y. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $15 for students, and are available online at www.peachesandcrime.com.
