Apalachin Fire Department elects new Commissioners

On Dec. 13, 2016, the Fire Commissioner Elections were held in Apalachin, N.Y.

As a result of the election, in which there were two seats open, Brian Rieber, with 107 votes, was elected for a two-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2017 and ending Dec. 31, 2018.

Elected to a five-year term is Jarvis Henderson, with 108 votes. Henderson’s term will run from Jan. 1, 2017 to Dec. 31, 2021.

Write-in candidates for the two-year term included John Prince (46 votes), Mike Roden (5 votes), Bill Prentice (3 votes), Dave Kresge (2 votes), Jarvis Henderson (2 votes), Ken Brinkman (1 vote), and 34 ballots were left blank.

For the five-year term, John Prince also ran and received 89 votes; three ballots were blank.
