Fireworks concluded a previous “Lights on the River” event held in downtown Owego, N.Y.

“Lights on the River”, a festive evening that includes music, activities and fireworks, is planned for Friday, Dec. 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. in downtown Owego’s Historic Marketplace.

Visitors are invited to enjoy an evening filled with family-friendly activities including a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, strolling musicians, hundreds of decorated trees, carolers, live reindeer, ice carvers, and a spectacular riverside fireworks show.

The fun kicks off with the ‘Countdown for Christmas Lights’ in the Courthouse Square. Santa will flip the switch that will light up the village for the holiday season.

Most restaurants and shops in the village will be open for business. Enjoy a meal or two, or stop by a table and pick up some holiday food from a non-profit organization. There will even be hot chocolate, hot cider, soup and more.
