Village Police address parking and traffic for ‘Lights on the River’ event

The Village of Owego will be hosting the annual Lights on the River Festival on Friday, Dec. 2 from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

The Owego Police Department is reminding visitors and residents that Lake Street and Front Street, between Church Street and Court Street, will be closed to traffic from 4 to 9 p.m.

Starting at 3 p.m., there will be no parking in the festival area to allow for individual removal of parked vehicles and for vendor set up.

Vehicles remaining in the street must be removed, according to police, or they will be towed at the owner’s expense.

The fireworks begin at 8 p.m. from Draper Park, and at that time the Court Street Bridge, Park Street, and Court Street will be closed to all traffic until the conclusion of the fireworks, and when officials clear the area.

The police are recommending that travelers seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
