Italian rock and pop violinist, Andrea Di Cesare, from Milan, Italy, is slated to perform with Southern Tier favorite, Voodoo Highway, at Originals Bar and Lounge, located at 25 Lake St. in Owego, N.Y., on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.

A highly regarded violinist in Italy, Andrea has toured throughout Europe and South America as a solo artist as well as an accompanist for several of Italy’s famous rock and pop music stars such as Renato Zero, Marina Rei and Carmen Consoli, among others.

Known for his violin prowess and mastery of adding depth of emotion to his playing, Andrea’s talent also extends to his unique pioneering techniques, which includes modern technology to make one violin sound like a full band. Andrea’s expertise has opened a new world for the violin, which creates a modern image off the classical instrument.

A student of the violin since about age five, Andrea studied at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia and the Scuola di Composizione in Rome, both institutes of musical higher education, where he played violin and piano and also learned the art of composition. In addition, Andrea’s resume includes jazz and choir singing.

Currently working on a new album, Andrea’s 2013 CD release, “Big Bang”, received critical acclaim.

Voodoo Highway, led by Dana Stewart, an Italian professor at Binghamton University, and her husband, Bob Rynone, bring to the stage a blend of blues, funk and original blues-rock tunes. Voodoo’s debut album is entitled “Hidin’ Out with the Blues.”

Voodoo Highway consists of Stewart on guitar, percussion and vocals, Rynone on lead and slide guitar and vocals, Andy Gorman on bass and vocals, and Tom D’Angelo on drums.

Stewart explained that she first met Di Cesare in 2013 when he came to the Southern Tier to visit other Italian friends of hers. Di Cesare has since returned several times and has a fan following in the area.

Stewart shared, “His original music is like nothing I’ve ever heard. Sometimes rocking and sometimes haunting, yet always beautiful; he has a great understanding of American rock, roots, and blues music, and adds so much when he plays on our songs. We are looking forward to a really special evening in Owego!”
