Dove Selected for the 2016 All-National Band Honor EnsembleJordan Dove.

Jordan Dove, a senior at Owego Free Academy (OFA), has been selected to play trombone with the 2016 All National Band Honor Ensemble during the National Music Education Annual Conference in Grapevine, Texas (outside Dallas) on Nov. 13, 2016. Rehearsals take place Nov. 10 through Nov. 12, which includes master classes and informational sessions about music careers for all participating students.

The All-National Honor Ensembles consist of a concert band, symphony orchestra, mixed choir, and jazz ensemble. Students from 49 states and territories were chosen through an audition process.

The concert band and symphony orchestra will each have approximately 150 instrumentalists, the jazz ensemble 20 instrumentalists, and the mixed chorus approximately 350 vocalists.

Eligible students have qualified for their state-level honor ensemble program and competed against top students for a spot in these national honor ensembles. Jordan was selected for the New York State All-State Symphony Orchestra in 2015, which made him eligible to audition for the 2016 All-National Ensembles.

Jordan plays trombone with the OFA Senior High School Band, the High School Jazz Band, the Binghamton Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Broome-Tioga County Teen Jazz project, and Making The Band (MTB) which is a high school pop band group.

For the past three summers, Jordan has attended the Trombone Institute at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. In addition to trombone, Jordan plays violin, piano and organ, and he also sings tenor and bass with the OFA Chambers Singers.

Jordan enjoys writing music in his free time and playing any of his instruments for various performances. Jordan plans to pursue trombone performance and music education upon graduation from high school.
