The Owego Rotary Club is sponsoring a plant identification walk on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Canawanna Nature Preserve on Water Street in Owego (the first left past Price Chopper).
The walk will be led by Jeff Smith. Jeff is on the board of the Waterman Conservation Education Center and is a noted local plantsman. He will point out native plants and their functions, invasive plants, and why they are a problem.
There is parking at the corner of Water Street and Mill Street. Sturdy walking shoes are advisable, and this is a rain or shine event.
