The Thanksgiving lunch for the Athens Senior Citizens was at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the Airport Community Center Hall. They had 23 members present and one guest, Ralph Lewis. 

The group recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, and Ted Benjamin said grace before they ate. 

The Turkey dinner from Ted Clark’s consisted of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, squash, green beans, and cranberry sauce. Dessert consisted of pumpkin pie, apple pie, apple pie bar, chocolate cake, and whipped cream. 

Ted opened the meeting at 12:55 p.m. The only November birthday was Cindy Estelle (14), and there were no anniversaries. Drawing winners were Yvonne Cornell, Cherri Foster, and Patty Benjamin.

Ginny Malone spoke about the upcoming Valley Chorus holiday concert, “Christmas Time is Here”.

The 79-member chorus will perform two concerts starting on Dec. 3 at the Keystone Theater in Towanda at 7:30 p.m., and the other on Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. at the Waverly High School. Presale tickets are $10, or they are $12 at the door . You can order a ticket online at www.valleychorus.org, from any member of the chorus, or at Jolly Farmer of Waverly, Yale’s Music Shop in Athens, and Patty Mac’s Daily Dose in Sayre. 

The Valley Active Living Center, located in the basement at the Athens Methodist Church, is looking for people to play trivia. Contact them if you are interested.

Anita and Bob Whipple reminded the group that the Towanda Seniors meet the third Thursday of each month.

This will be dish to pass luncheon at noon, at the Wysox Presbyterian Church.

The next meeting will be held on Dec. 14, at noon at Airport Community Center Hall. It will be a complete ham dinner from Ted Clarks. Linda Dimon, Anita Whipple, and Mary Shangraw will provide dessert. The entertainment will be Jim and Alice Vanderhoffs.
