On Sept. 10, riders participating in the annual “(PANYC) Punishers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (LEMC) Lick Breast Cancer Ride” will roll into the 9th Annual Lick Breast Cancer Music Fest and Ice Cream Social, taking place at the Pines Pavilion Event Center located on Union Center Maine Highway in Endicott, N.Y.

With approximately 13 members participating in several fundraising rides throughout the year with the Punishers LEMC PANYC Chapter, the Lick Breast Cancer Ride is one of them.

According to member Bob Russell, last year’s honoree, Christina Wood, rode with the group. This year’s honoree, Shelby Taylor, is going on the ride as well, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the event, and the honoree.

Riders will meet up at the Speedway in Apalachin for a 9 a.m. registration, and kickstands up between 10 and 10:15 a.m. for the scenic ride that ends up at the Lick Breast Cancer Music Fest and Ice Cream Social, which runs from noon to 11 p.m. and features a dozen bands.

Bands slated to perform at the main event include Last Call, DramaScream, Messy Truth, Tijuana Danger Dogs, The Tim Ruffo Band, The Gents, Wreckless Marci, Jimmi Jones & The Family Jewels, Two Dollar Pistol, Beard of Bees, and Electric Mayhem.

The Lick Breast Cancer Music Fest and Ice Cream Social began in 2014 and was held at the Endicott Elks Club and served to fight breast cancer.

Now, and into its ninth year, the event continues to offer direct support for those battling breast cancer, and with this year’s honoree being Shelby Taylor.

For the morning run, a $20 registration fee gets riders into the event, with the rest of the dollars donated to the cause. Russell stated that they also try to wear pink for the ride, in solidarity.

“All riders are welcome,” stated Russell in an interview last week, adding, “Anyone with two or three wheels, we want them there.”

This is the third year the PANYC Chapter of The Punishers LEMC have organized the Lick Breast Cancer Ride, and the fifth year they have supported the Lick Breast Cancer Music Fest and Ice Cream Social event, monetarily.

Other rides that The PANYC Chapter of The Punishers LEMC participates in include the Tonya King Memorial Run in May. The dollars raised through the May ride benefit an event that takes place in September in which select area youth are invited to “build a bike with a biker”, a hands-on experience. The Punishers LEMC usually provide a match for their donation as well, doubling the impact made through their efforts.
