Letter: Gyms need to reopen

Dear Editor,

This is in regards to gyms and the reopening of them. For several months I was attending Yeaman Athletics, owned by Joey Yaman. I am so heartbroken about my friend Joey closing his gym and moving to Colorado. Joey worked so hard at building up his business. 

I am happy, however, that Joey sold his gym to Bryan Hathaway, owner of Peak Performance and whom I hear is a fine man. I’m also angry at Governor Cuomo, who I feel has been using COVID-19 as an excuse for being a tyrant. Surely, you can have a gym opening if one has safe operating practices. 

There also has been talk about reopening casinos. Are not gyms and keeping in shape important as well?
