With Harness Racing underway at Tioga Downs Casino Resort, without fans, Gold Star Mysti (Corey Braden) won the $10,000 fillies and mares open on opening day, Sunday, June 7, at Tioga Downs in front of no fans.

Gold Star Mysti ($16.60) went right to the front followed by Persistent Bettor (Wally Hennessey) hitting the first quarter in :27.2. She controlled the pace hitting the half in :57.4 using a :30.2 second quarter breather. Gigi From Fiji (Jim Marohn Jr) went first over on the back stretch to give chase but Gold Star Mysti hit three-quarters first in 1:26.0.

The Charging Moa N came flying three-wide as they made the turn for home. She was catching Gold Star Mysti with every stride.  

Gold Star Mystic, who is owned by Gold Star Farm and trained by Margaret Audley, dug in and held on to win in 1:53.4. The Chargin Moa N had to settle for second money. Northern Dali (Fern Paquet Jr.) came up to finish third.

Gold Star Mysti is a 7-year-old mare by Mysticism. It was her third win this season and her 31st career victory.

Wally Hennessey and Tyler Buter each had three winners on the day. Hennessey got his wins with Gifted Glider ($11.60), Odds On Cheddar ($7.70), and Boinganator ($10.80). Buter finished first with Kinetic King ($3.40), Prairie Westerngal ($3.30), and Prairie Cougar ($5.00).

On Monday, Tyler Buter drove Prairie Fortune to the $10,000 Open Trot. He had four winners in all on the night.

It’s A Herbie (Verlin Yoder) jumped out to the early lead but jumped off-stride. Dragin The Wagon (Jim Meittinis) then took over and led to the first quarter in :28.1.

Prairie Fortune ($4.50), who is owned by Laurie Poulin and trainer Mike Deters, charged up and took the lead with one lap to go. He went to the half in :58.1 and hit three-quarters in 1:27.1.  

Massive Opulence (Jim Taggart Jr) made a run at him as they went around the final turn. Prairie Fortune found another gear as they reached the stretch and won with ease in 1:56.2.  

Uncle Hanover (Kyle DiBenedetto) came flying late to finish second. It’s A Herbie was third best.

Prairie Fortune is an 8-year-old gelding by Arapa Victory. It was his third win this season. He now owns 55 career victories.

Buter combined with trainer Rob Harmon for three of his wins. They won with That’s My Opinion ($5.20), MV OK Palacio BR ($3.80), and Wise Image ($10.40). Buter’s other victory came with the Mike Deters trained An The Thunderolls ($17.80).

Tioga Downs set a new handle record for the second straight day. The new record is $431,435. 

Tioga Downs returns to live racing on Sunday, June 14, with a post time of 4 p.m.
