Each year, thousands of students complete an All State ensemble audition across New York State. Just over 900 students are selected as the best musicians in state. They perform with the NYSSMA all state ensembles in Rochester, N.Y. on Dec. 7 and 8 this year.

Owego Free Academy had three students selected for this prestigious honor.  Seniors Ashleigh Allen (alto 1) and Rachel Raftis (alto 2) will sing with the Treble Choir. Both Ashleigh and Rachel were members of the All State ensembles in 2018 as well.

Jayden Ripic, junior, will represent OFA in the Symphonic Band on French horn. Senior Emmalyn Saddlemire (alto 1) is an alternate for the choir.

Candor had one student accepted to All State conference this year – Ty’vone Benners. The valedictorian of the 2020 senior class, Benners will be singing Tenor 2 in the mixed choir. He is also involved in chorus, band, jazz band, select choir, National Honor Society, Key Club, Cross Country, and Track and Field.

Benners is the first student to represent Candor with this prestigious honor since 2005. The Candor community is so proud of Ty and his effort and dedication to Candor’s growing music department.

The OFA music department is equally proud to have strong student musicians and leaders.
