On Sept. 14, at Ransom Park in Tioga Center, the community will come together to help out Karley Bailey, who is suffering from Chiari Malformation.

Over the course of five years, Karley has seen many different types of doctors and various hospitals. She has had countless and extensive blood workups performed as doctors looked for answers surrounding her severe pain, headaches, fatigue, and physical limitations.

After a recent MRI, it was discovered that Karley has Chiari Malformation, a serious neurological disorder where the bottom of the brain, the cerebellum, descends out of the skull and crowds the spinal cord, putting pressure on both the brain and spine and causing many symptoms. There is no cure for Chiari, but decompression surgery will hopefully improve her quality of life.

The Sept. 14 event begins at 10 a.m. with a cornhole tournament, and then food, fun, and a Chinese Auction will begin at noon. The fee to enter the cornhole tournament is $40 per team, and includes a meal.

The organizers are looking for people to sign up, and they are also looking for donated raffle items. If you want to sign up, or wish to donate, call (607) 727-7879.
