The event was hosted at the Tioga County Sportsman Association on April 25. Ten teams competed from Tioga County – two from Candor, three from Tioga Central and five from Newark Valley.

Candor Central School’s, Candor 400’s, won first place for Tioga County and will advance to the New York State Envirothon, planned for May 22 and 23 at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y. The Candor 400’s also won the regional title for this year’s Envirothon, meaning they scored the highest of all 32 teams that competed.

The National Competition this year will be held July 28 through Aug. 2, and will be held in Raleigh, N.C. at the North Carolina State University.
