The crowd had dancing shoes on at the second annual Flame the Band concert, held at the Tioga Downs Event Center a few weeks ago. An outstanding performance from this energetic and talented group made it nearly impossible to sit still, according to the organizers.
Flame the Band includes musicians who all have disabilities, but they choose to focus on their strengths and abilities instead. Formed in 2003, Flame has performed internationally and has released five CD’s, which include original songs as well as a wide range of popular music.
A talented local singer, Jay Barrows also shared a song with the crowd of more than 100 people, and all had a great time.
Thanks to generous support from Jeff Luciano and Nancy Murray, Tioga United Way, Lions Club members and anonymous donors, and Tioga Downs, many people were able to attend the event at no charge. This event was offered free to anyone with a special need plus a caregiver.
Plans for a Flame Concert in 2020 are already under way. Follow them on their Facebook page and visit www.flametheband.com to hear their amazing music.
