Family & Children’s Society (Binghamton) and Family Counseling Services of Cortland County celebrate merger and reveal new brand

Family & Children’s Society (Binghamton) and Family Counseling Services of Cortland County recently celebrated the merger of these two leading human services agencies under their new name: Family & Children’s Counseling Services. The board and staff ushered in a new chapter in the agencies’ history as they unveiled the combined entity’s new brand, logo and tagline: “Cultivating resilience.”

“This new, larger agency provides significant opportunities to expand and enhance access to high quality health care services in our community, especially for vulnerable and underserved individuals and families,” Board President Joseph F. Governali said.

He added, “With our storied pasts as prologue, this new combined ‘chapter’ will be bigger, better and more impactful than ever, and our communities are the winners.”

“Combining the resources and footprint of the two agencies into one makes it more efficient and effective in today’s managed care environment. This is mission critical, as financial sustainability assures ongoing availability of essential behavioral health care services in our region. We are pleased and proud to continue the shared legacy – totaling well over a century of combined service – of providing support and professional guidance for individuals and families of the Southern Tier and Central New York,” Chief Executive Officer Lisa W. Hoeschele commented.

Family & Children’s Society (Binghamton) celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2016. In its mission to renew hope; provide help, care and counseling; and strengthen people through all stages of life, the agency has provided supports to thousands of families, children and adults throughout the southern tier of New York.

The mission now expands and continues, seamlessly, under the name Family & Children’s Counseling Services.

Hoeschele will continue to lead the newly merged agency as its Chief Executive Officer.
