On June 4 of this year, Dr. Beaulieu and her staff moved from their previous location in Johnson City to 2001 East Main St. in Endicott. Incredibly enough, they were able to do it in just one weekend.

Dickin Animal Memorial Hospital was aptly named by Dr. Beaulieu, or Dr. B as she is affectionately called. The name stems from a Maria Dickin, whom in 1917 started a program to give animals medals that served during times of war / conflicts honors also. The first medal was given in 1943 and is still being given to this day.

The facilities color scheme coincides with the ribbon attached to the medal: green, dark brown and pale blue with a touch of orange added by Dr. B.

Since the move, the staff has grown from 12 to approximately 30. Three full time and one part time veterinarian are included in this number. Licensed vet technicians will be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week beginning in January.

The hospital offers six large exam rooms built so the stress on the pet and their owner can be eased. A dental room, a state of the art x-ray room and a quieter room are available for people and their pets that may need to say good-bye to each other.

Surgeries are performed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Recovery rooms come complete with oxygen being pumped into the rooms.

Also on the premises is an animal hotel and boutique? Dr. B. states that these are three separate entities.

She stated, “Our call room is in the back. When you walk into the hospital you have our undivided attention as medicine should not be interrupted.”

The animal hotel has 11 rooms. There are seven-bedroom size and four for dogs that are under 40 pounds. These rooms can be quickly changed to accommodate cats also.

Each room has skylights, televisions and extremely comfortable surroundings. Their idea is to ensure the pet feels at home while being away from home.

A new addition to the hotel coming in the very near future will be video cameras in every room so owners can see their furry friends.

The boutique offers a variety of things including toys, leashes and treats. Trying to help an owner find what is right them and their pet is a priority.

Kelly Anson states, “It’s not about the sale, it’s about the service to our customers and pets.”

A dog groomer will be starting in January to add to amenities offered by the boutique.
