Dairy farmers’ focus on cow care and milk quality result in wholesome milk

Dairy farmers are experts at animal care, land preservation and dairy foods. Dairy farmer Maria Noble shared this expertise when she spoke with members of the Owego Rotary Club about her family’s dairy farm.

Noble’s family owns Nobledale Farm near Gillett, Pa. They care for 80 cows every day on their farm.

“As a dairy farmer, I love what I do,” Noble told the members. “My family and I live on our farm. We are committed to protecting the land, water and air entrusted to us.”

Noble covered all aspects of dairy farming, from how the cows are cared for to the safety of the milk produced on the farm.

“While each dairy farm is a little different, all farmers are serious about their responsibility to take care of the natural resources and animals on their farms,” Noble said. “Cows are given a nutritious diet, good medical care and healthy living conditions. Farmers work with experts to find the best ways to reduce energy use, conserve water and protect the land.”

Noble’s insight into the daily life of a dairy farmer was an eye-opener for many of the members of the Owego Rotary Club. Now club members know they can purchase milk, cheese and yogurt with confidence because of the care dairy farmers like the Nobles take to produce it.
