A Kirkwood man has been arrested after he barricaded himself in his home with a child on Nov. 24, 2018.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., New York State Police at Binghamton were dispatched to a residence on Main Street in the town of Kirkwood to check the welfare of David A. Bush, age 32 of Kirkwood. Bush is accused of threatening to harm his two children.

According to State Police, when troopers arrived, they were able to secure one child but then encountered Bush holding an axe and refusing to leave his residence. Investigators determined that another child was still in the residence with Bush.

After talking to negotiators, Bush exited the residence with the unharmed child but resisted arrest. He was taken into custody and charged with the misdemeanors of Menacing in the second degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Resisting Arrest and Public Lewdness. No injuries were reported.

Bush was arraigned at the Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing where he was remanded to the Broome County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 property bond.
