Jodi Douglas, community leader, worked diligently to put on the first annual “Old West Saloon” themed event for the residents at Owego Gardens. The event took place on Friday, Oct. 19.

Everyone was invited to dress up, which many did. Families were welcome, and many youngsters came in costumes as well.

According to the organizers, the attendance was amazing.

Jodi Douglas had a box of bandanas for those who needed them and there were back drops set to the “Old West” theme. Good old piano and saloon music was played until the band began at 7 p.m.

The band, called “The 4th of May”, a young duo consisting of Brooke Albright and Nick Gacioch, provided the music for the rest of the evening. Playing songs from artists such as Johnny Cash, Elvis and Alan Jackson, the band had guests attending on their feet and dancing.

Food and smiles were plentiful throughout the evening. A true sense of community, guests spent the evening laughing, joking, and enjoying themselves.

Owego Gardens is a hidden gem in Tioga County. Opening in May of 2017, the complex provides affordable housing, and is nestled right outside of Owego on Route 434.
