Bassett Youth Foundation announces 25th anniversary campaign

On what would have been Charles H. Bassett’s 103rd birthday, the Owego based Non-Profit Foundation honoring his good deeds and good will has announced how it plans to celebrate its 25 years of positive community youth development and philanthropy in 2019. 

Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation President Robert Clarke Bassett is enthusiastic about the past accomplishments and future impacts of the organization’s work at its Bassett Ah-Wa-Ga Center.  

“We are so proud of the hundreds of student scholarships and youth volunteer grants we have facilitated since our first day in April 1994,” said Bassett, adding, “Thousands of youth and families have benefited and we are grateful to our all volunteer board members, supporters, and friends. 

For the anniversary, they will raise an additional $25,000 for student scholarships and volunteer grants, and expand its 20 scholarships to schools in Candor, Newark Valley and Tioga Center. 

“At a time of increasing need for higher education assistance, the Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation will step forward to do more to realize the promising future every young person,” Bassett added. 

In addition to increasing its financial support for students and youth volunteers, the Foundation will create a 25th Anniversary Booklet capturing the highlights of its contributions over the years and thanking those individuals and supporters who have made it possible. Also the Foundation will conduct more local history, leadership and service activities for Tioga County youth.
