Croton Hose Co. #3 of the Owego Fire Department is again teaming up with local law enforcement and offering a “candy check” for local trick-or-treaters at their fire station on the Flats, 8 Talcott St., from 6 to 8 p.m. on Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31.
Representatives from the New York State Police, Tioga County Sheriff’s Office, and Owego Police Department will be on hand to inspect candy, ensuring the safety of community children.
Cider, donuts, hot coffee and hot cocoa will also be available with “scary tunes” from DJ Tommy D. of Flat Rat Adventures. The community is invited to hang out with the Flat Rats Halloween Night. Last year more than 100 trick-or-treaters visited the fire station.
Croton Hose Co. #3 is 174 years old, founded in 1844. Located on the “Flats” area of the Village of Owego, they proudly carry on the local nickname “Flat Rats,” affectionately given to area resident that live in that section of the village near the high school. Croton Hose Co. #3 is the largest company in the Owego Fire Department.
