On Friday, Nov. 2, from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the back alley of the Owego Kitchen, you can be a part of Tioga County history. A community portrait project led by professional photographer, Lisa McQueeney of The Camera’s Eye, will be capturing the marvelous faces of this historically rich and rural county to be used as works of art.

The images will be displayed as a fantastic collage at the Tioga Arts Council, The Owego Kitchen, Fuddy Duddy’s, Tom Ash Insurance, and the new Tioga County Tourism office.

The cost of having your portrait taken is $20, with a portion of the funds going to support the 34 agencies of the Tioga United Way.

Photographer Lisa McQueeney stated, “I love capturing the beauty of a face, and when can you say your portrait is being displayed in an Art Gallery? I can’t say that; not yet anyway. Having your portrait taken for this project is not only a way to give back to our community, but a way to ‘be’ our community.”

Participants will receive a hard copy of their portrait as well as digital format. A poster of all the images will be sold throughout the county.

All Tioga County residents are encouraged to have their portrait taken. If you can’t make it out on Nov. 2, and during First Friday in Owego, photos will also be taken the next day, Saturday, Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For more information, contact Lisa McQueeney at (607) 426-6023 or the Tioga United Way at (607) 687-4028.
