Community Concert for Scholarships taking place on October 20

On Oct. 20, some of the most talented alumni from the Newark Valley Central School district will be presenting a Community Concert. This free concert celebrates the accomplishments of past Newark Valley High School graduates while accepting donations to be put towards Scholarships for the next generation of seniors. Distinguished alumni from far and near will be traveling to perform in the concert.

This year Brenna McLaud-Bichara, award winning dancer and choreographer from Vancover, British Columbia is returning to her hometown to perform.  Zachary Lenox of the Portland, Oregon Opera Company will regale the audience with his broad and resonant baritone. Local soprano Jenny Gac will mesmerize the audience with her lilting tones.

The concert will also include a choir of alumni voices led by Newark Valley’s beloved director Jewel Griffith. The choir will perform selections to honor first responders and veterans.

From the bluegrass sounds of Tracy Steinkamp-Cucci, the guitar/voice duo of Julie Thompson and Todd Rutan, the harmonic tones of the Valley Harmony barbershop quartet and so many more gifted artists, there will be something for everyone.

The concert will be held at the Newark Valley High School’s Jewel Bittner-Griffith auditorium on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.

A freewill offering will be accepted, and all are welcome to attend.
