Learn about clean heating and cooling during upcoming home tour and event

On Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m., homeowners can learn about the newest technologies that revolutionize the way we heat and cool our homes. The event will be held in Hubbard Auditorium in the Tioga County Government Building, 56 Main Street, Owego.

Heating our homes in the winter is not an option. But doing so affordably, comfortably, and safely with good air-quality and energy-efficiency is not a given. It’s not even typical. That is why non-profit organizations throughout New York State are making it a priority to inform the public of safer, less expensive ways of making homes more comfortable, while reducing home energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.

Jonathan Comstock, program director for HeatSmart Tompkins, will share the magic of air and ground-source heat pump technologies as well as currently available rebates and tax credits.

Representatives from HeatSmart-vetted companies NP Environmental, HALCO, and Standard Insulating Company will be on hand to provide additional information and answer questions.

This program is sponsored by RAFT (Residents Allied for the Future of Tioga).

Also, on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m., Liz and Joe Rowland will host a home tour, showcasing their ground-source (geothermal) heat pump system. Comstock, will also be on hand at the tour to answer questions about the comfort, safety, and efficiency of air and ground-source heat pumps for heating and cooling homes and small businesses.

The home tour address is 2495 Montrose Turnpike in Owego.
