From the Desk of Owego Police Chief Joseph Kennedy

We are pleased to introduce our new fully equipped police vehicle into service this week. We would like to extend our sincere thank you to the Department of Criminal Justice for the donation of a brand new radar unit, which was given to us in exchange for an out-of-date radar that we asked to have recalibrated, but was instead replaced for free and saved our Village $3,000 to be used for other improvements.

Our police station received a much-needed upgrade with the replacement of our front doors, which will be installed next week. We will continue to restore and improve the department in an effort to serve our community better and preserve this historic building in our Village.

As we continue to address the opioid epidemic in our country and in our own counties I call upon you in our Village to report drug activity so that we can work together as a community to make our streets safe for our kids.

If you have information on drug activity, please reach out to us by calling the station or leaving a voicemail message on the Chief’s voicemail at (607) 687-2234.

From Sept. 17 through Sept. 23 we had 77 calls for service: one Felony arrests; four Misdemeanors; two Mental Health; 32 Traffic Tickets, and 11 Warning Tickets.
