Annual meeting of Candor Historical Society taking place on June 27

The annual meeting of the Candor Historical Society will be held on June 27, at 7 p.m. at the Candor Town Hall. Dick Anderson will present the program for the evening on the subject of “The History of Catatonk”.

Most people now know Catatonk as just an area you pass through on Route 96 where not much activity goes on, but in the past it was a thriving community.

Dick Anderson grew up in Catatonk during the 1930’s and 1940’s and has documented a lot about not only historical business information, but also personal stories about the residents and his own experiences.

Prior to Dick’s talk there will be short annual meeting with reports given by the Historical Society’s President, Secretary and Treasurer.

Election of Officers for the next year will be held, committee assignments will be made, and the appointment of the Director-at-Large for a three year term will be announced.

Upon the conclusion of the handling of any Old Business and New Business, the business meeting will be closed, and the talk will commence.

Join them to learn about the Catatonk area, as well as what’s going on with the Historical Society. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
