Jacob Banks and Nate Wojcik scored the goals for Hiawatha. The stalwart Hammerheads back line of Noah Fowler, Jack Rollison, Preston Jackson and Elijah Baciuska, playing in front a solid effort by goalkeeper Eric Jewson, held RFC to a single goal in the contest.

The Hiawatha Hammerheads have four matches coming up in June in their quest to regain the championship of the top premier league in the State, a title earned by the Hammerheads two seasons ago. Hiawatha Hammerheads finished the 2016 Thruway League season with a record of 7 wins, 1 loss and 0 ties. The team’s 2018 record presently stands at 3 wins, 1 loss and 0 ties at the mid-point of the season.

Coach Jim Franz added, “This has been another fun year of Hammerheads soccer. We appreciate that the Thruway League has continued to make a place for our small town travel team to compete with the top premier teams in the State. The boys are off to a great start this season!”

The next and final Hiawatha Hammerheads home match will be played at Hickories Park in Owego on Monday, June 11 versus Syracuse Development Academy, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Road matches at Syracuse Development Academy, Empire Academy Buffalo and Kenmore Elite will round out the Hammerheads 2018 schedule.
