On May 27, police arrested Matthew J. Ball, age 26 of Newark Valley, N.Y., for two counts of Burglary in the third degree, a Class D Felony.

This arrest occurred after the Owego Police Department responded to a report of a burglary of a garage at a private residence on Academy Street in the Village of Owego.

According to police, the owner of the residence had confronted the suspect, who then left the area.

While the officer was still in the area investigating the burglary on Academy Street, a report of a burglary in progress at a residence on McMaster Street was received.

Officers from both the Owego Police Department and the New York State Police responded and Ball was located in a detached garage. Matthew Ball also matched the description given from the burglary on Academy Street.

In addition to the Felony arrest, it was also discovered that Ball was wanted on a warrant for Petit Larceny by the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office, and Criminal Impersonation in the second degree by the Johnson City Police Department.

Ball was arraigned in the Village of Owego Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond.
