Waverly High School is proud to announce Senior Capria Picco has won 2nd place at the HOSA State Competitions. The competitions were held April 17-19 in Syracuse, NY. 

Picco was competing as part of the New Visions program through the GST BOCES, and participated in the Dental Terminology online exam.

Students who place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd are qualified to attend the HOSA International Conference in Dallas, Texas from June 25-29, the week after Waverly High School’s graduation. 

However, Capria, who is slated to attend Clemson University in the fall, needs community support. Only the 1st place winners are provided financial support from BOCES; 2nd and 3rd place winners are permitted to attend, but must cover the $1,200.00 cost of registration and travel out of their own pockets.

HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. 

HOSA’s two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA’s goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.
