Opinion: Thompson’s will be missed

Dear Editor,

This letter is in regards to the closing of Thompson’s Grocery. This store has been so much more than a place to get groceries. 

Every day Dave and crew have provided the friendly hello to so many, and so much more. Maybe only in Owego do you find someone like Dave who looks out for people who might just need a little looking out for. Or the guy who is looking for someone to talk to for a bit before he gets on with his day. Or the guy Dave gave jobs to when he stopped in – to add a little extra purpose to that person’s life.  

Where do you find that kind of community? Owego is a really good place to live and it is because of people like Dave, people who go out of their way for others.

Thompson’s will be missed. What a great place it has been for Owego, and to those lucky enough to cross through those doors.
