The Tioga County Legislative Office and Office of Emergency Services are carefully monitoring the local power outages and have ongoing communications with New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG).
NYSEG anticipates that the power will be restored to customers in the Owego area by this afternoon or evening. Presently they do not plan to open any shelters unless the restoration efforts are delayed.
If anyone does need assistance locating a warm place to temporarily stay until power is restored, they are encouraged to contact the County Office of Emergency Services at 687-2023 and a representative will provide assistance.
