Jim Overhiser, along with Frank Mangini, will perform on acoustic guitar for First Friday at the Black Cat Gallery. Provided photo.

The Black Cat Gallery has moved to 214 Front St. in Owego, and officially opened at that location on Monday, April 2. Join them during the First Friday celebration on April 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at their new location.

First Friday brings art, celebration, and the music of Jim Overhiser and Frank Mangini on acoustic guitars, playing a mix of folk, rock and blues. Music will take place at the gallery from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday.

The featured artist of the month is the Black Cat Gallery’s newest member, Mary Mack from Owego. The beauty in nature inspires Mary’s artwork and she recreates floral images, portraying the strength and splendor of nature so that the moments last a bit longer.

The creative process is her favorite, pushing paint around with the spontaneity of watercolors. Mary enjoys the layering down process of the paint that builds up and takes on the image form. Mary translates these floral watercolor paintings to beautiful note cards that convey the images of nature and their shining beauty.
