Wayne Wood, age 37 of Waverly, N.Y., pleaded guilty to attempted rape on Tuesday, March 20.
The charge, attempted rape in the first degree, a class C violent felony, came after an attempt to force another person into sexual intercourse. The incident, according to court officials, took place in May of 2017.
As a result of his plea, Wood will receive a 10-year sentence in state prison and 10 years post-release as a second violent felony offender.
Wood’s sentencing is scheduled for June 11, 2018.
Wood remains in the Tioga County Jail without bail awaiting sentencing.
