‘Cooper’s Crew’ to host benefit

‘Cooper’s Crew’ to host benefitOn March 25, an event planned at Touch of Texas in Binghamton will benefit a local family in need. The event will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. at Touch of Texas, located in the Northgate Plaza.

“Cooper’s Crew,” the Cooper Busch Benefit Committee, has organized this event to help out the Busch family – Tara, Steve, Cole, Cooper and Hope, with the journey that lies ahead while their four year old son closes in on his battle with Leukemia.

Cooper Busch was born with a genetic disorder called Down Syndrome, and has grown to be a spunky, loving boy. He has touched the lives of people across the community, state and country and is affectionately known as “Super Cooper.”

In late 2016, Cooper was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, the megakaruocytic type.

After treatment at the children’s hospital in Syracuse, N.Y., he reached remission in May of 2017. But sadly, a few short months later, his cancer returned and it has been determined there is no further treatment options available. His medical team has given him six to 12 months.

Since his time on earth is limited, his parents made the decision to put their jobs on hold and spend time as a family for the remainder of Cooper’s life, and make as many memories as possible. The family is living with no income with the exception of help from family, friends and the community.

The goal of the benefit is to alleviate any financial costs and raise the money needed for difficult end of life expenses.

Admission to the benefit is $15 for adults and $5 for ages 10 and under. There will be a spaghetti dinner, 50/50 raffles and much more.
