Common Time Choral Group to present 100th concert

Common Time Choral Group will present their 100th free concert at the Clemens Center’s Powers Theater on Saturday, March 24. The concert is titled “The Best of Common Time.”

A pre-concert show, featuring David Peckham at the Clemens Center Theater organ playing a variety of music, will begin at 7 p.m. Common Time will take the stage at 7:30 p.m.

Common Time will feature a wide variety of favorite music that they have performed in the past. The group will perform music such as “Best of the Beach Boys,” “Aquarius,” and “Ticket to Ride” (a Beatles medley).

Along with the songs from the entire group, several soloists and surprise acts will be featured.

Common Time is a pop choral group that performs three free concerts a year at the Clemens Center. It began in March of 1985 with a small group of singers, with Paul Holland as director.

Now, 33 years later, the group has grown to 60 to 70 singers, with Paul still at the helm. The group also performs several times after each concert for various nursing facilities and at other community events.
