On Dec. 19, the Tioga County Legislature officially passed a resolution appointing Mike Simmons as the Director of Emergency Services.
Simmons stated, “I am honored to be appointed in this position and excited to move forward with the new Office of Emergency Services.”
While the office has a new name, the business the department conducts will largely be the same as the previous Fire Bureau and Emergency Management Office. The organizational structure will now provide a more “seamless” relationship between Emergency Management, Fire and EMS services.
Simmons also stated that he is “looking forward to working with all the specialty teams that previously operated under the Fire Coordinator.”
Even though the office is changing, the teams will still remain and have his full support.
